We are thrilled to be welcoming Professor Carlene Firmin as keynote speaker at our regional Harm Outside the Home conference on 20th November, along with a stellar line-up of national speakers.
The event will bring together up to 150 professionals from across our 12 local authorities and our 3 police forces in the north east, to focus on how we can best support children and young people at risk of, or experiencing, harm outside the home.
Carlene is Professor of Social Work at Durham University and founder of the concept of Contextual Safeguarding. She has led the research programme to test and develop Contextual Safeguarding across the UK and internationally since 2015, and is perhaps most recognised from a 2019 Ted Talk she delivered.
